LOTF Response

The rock stuck Piggy a glancing blow from chin to knee; the conch exploded into a thousand white fragments and ceased to exit. Piggy's death pg. 181 first paragraph

In this scene, Piggy is going die because Roger drops a large rock on top of his head. This book tells that it was not as important as the death of Simon even though Piggy was one of the main characters in the book because his death was packed in one short paragraph.

I also noticed that the author doesn't really use this event to connect to other events. According to the Sigmund Freud that we discussed during class, Piggy is a superego which is a character who convinces that it's not good to do something by influencing other characters. This is significant because it shows that the other characters don't care about other characters which shows a lack of empathy.

  1. I like how you brought in events described in class into your blog. I also noticed piggy’s death was not written with significance.
