Juliana- Thanksgiving Break Eli- Thanksgiving

Draft Thesis

"Roger led the way straight through the castles, kicking them over, burying the flowers, scattering the chosen stones." Pg.60 My thesis explains about how Roger is being sociopath and what he was doing in the story. In this sentence it tells how Roger crashed the sand castle that littluns: Henry, Percival, and Johnny built. It also shows that Roger lacks empathy because he made them feel sad. This scene was important to me when it comes to the explanation of Roger's personality because it was one of the significant things that he did in the story.

My Thanksgiving break wasn't really fun because I was sick for the most of the time. My head felt weird on Monday and it got worse and worse everyday. I kept coughing every second. I eventually fell to a point where I can't even move from the bed for the whole day. Luckily on Sunday, I was managed to get it cured.      On Thursday, the day of the Thanksgiving, my mom took me to her friends house to have a Thanksgiving party with them. I was surprised to find out that all of the people at the party were older than I am. I didn't know what to do but a guy named Ben came up to talk to me to clear up the awkwardness. He asked me what grade I'm in and what my favorite subject was. Then some other people started talking to me so it wasn't bad the entire time.

Grace- LOTF Response Katherine- Symbolism

LOTF Response

The rock stuck Piggy a glancing blow from chin to knee; the conch exploded into a thousand white fragments and ceased to exit. Piggy's death pg. 181 first paragraph In this scene, Piggy is going die because Roger drops a large rock on top of his head. This book tells that it was not as important as the death of Simon even though Piggy was one of the main characters in the book because his death was packed in one short paragraph. I also noticed that the author doesn't really use this event to connect to other events. According to the Sigmund Freud that we discussed during class, Piggy is a superego which is a character who convinces that it's not good to do something by influencing other characters. This is significant because it shows that the other characters don't care about other characters which shows a lack of empathy.

Symbolism

When I was five, I used to go to the mall with my sister every Saturday. She liked to take me to places that I haven't been. She wanted me to see different views that are very attractive. I liked her idea because it always made me feel excited. It also made me want to go out with her to more places.  One day, my sister and I were trying to get on the ferris wheel right next to the amusement park filled with thousands of people. I wanted to go inside so I ran up quickly to the employee. But I realized that I was by myself for the last few minutes. I tried to find her but I couldn't because I was too little to go through people's way. I about about to cry, but an angel came up to try to help me. She found my sister and I got to ride on the ferris wheel. The angel stands for the light of savior. It shows that I was saved by the light that shined into my face.

Peyton- lord of the flies reading response Tanya- vocab week 2

Vocabulary Free Post

When my sister used to go to a college in Louisiana, we met each other on the weekends when my sister had time to spend time with me. She always looked tired when she was coming into my house because of her work that she did and drive that made her feel exhausted. I was concerned about it because I didn't want her to feel overwhelming about the fact that she had to come every weekend. So  I told her that she didn't need to come every weekend if that's making her feel uncomfortable. But she said she's fine because she didn't like staying in her dorm for the whole week when she doesn't have any classes.  Most of the time, we used to go somewhere to eat with my sister. She and I liked going somewhere together to spend more time. Out of all the places we've been, Zoe's Kitchen was probably the place where we mostly stayed. I always get a salad but she likes to get a hummus and a pita. I first didn't like them but I started to like those as I see her e

Reading Response to Lord of The Flies

I'm enjoying reading Lord of The Flies so far. I liked how the characters have the responsibility to organize their community on the island. They have to find a way to survive on the island without their  parents which is not an easy thing to do. I also liked how there is a mention between Ralph and Jack. They have different views toward the survival which creates a drama to the story.  I found some difficulties understanding when the characters in the story don't listen to what the other character is saying. For example, nobody listens to what Piggy is saying when he is actually talking about something logical and critical. I think if everyone listens to what other character is saying, that can solve the tensions between the characters because not understanding each other is a big deal in this story.
